Il Colle di Sotto is immersed in the countryside of Montelupo Fiorentino, a town in the immediate outskirts of Florence, so famous for its ceramics that it’s called “The Town of Ceramics”.

Il Colle di Sotto’s position, in the center of Florentine Chianti, let allow you to reach the most suggestive medieval hamlets of Tuscany in one hour or less.

Arrive at Il Colle di Sotto is easy: read below how to get there by car and check the list of the main places that we recommend to visit!

From North
from Milano/Bologna take the A1 Highway direction Florence/Rome, exit at “Firenze – Scandicci”, take the S.G.C. FI.PI.LI. direction of Pisa and exit at Montelupo Fiorentino (after about 20 min drive). After the exit, at the end of a short downhill slope, you will come to a junction, turn left direction “Bottinaccio”. Go straight on, passing under the FI-PI-LI.

From South
from either of Rome’s airports follow the green motorway signs direction Florence and “Grande Raccordo Anulare Nord” (GRA). Once on this road follow direction Florence on the A1 Highway. From here it is about 2 and 45 min drive. Exit at “Firenze – Scandicci”. take the S.G.C. FI.PI.LI. direction of Pisa and exit at Montelupo Fiorentino (after about 20 min drive). After the exit, at the end of a short downhill slope, you will come to a junction, turn left direction “Bottinaccio”. Go straight on, passing under the FI-PI-LI.

From Pisa airport
take the blue sign (FI.PI.LI.) direction Florence, and exit at Montelupo Fiorentino (after about 40 min drive). Immediately after the exit you will find a junction, turn on the left taking VIA MAREMMANA, continue on this road for 300 mts, follow the information on your right for “Bottinaccio”. Go straight on, passing under the FI-PI-LI.

Then…
following the main street for 3 km about, until you see an unpaved road on your right hand side, that’s “Via del Colle”. Now you follow the road, always on the left, and then about 300 mts, you arrive at Il Colle di Sotto!

N.B.
We recommend you do NOT use any Sat Nav system for the last leg of the journey, because they can be misleading in this area. Therefore for the last part of the journey please follow the written directions provided. Obviously, please contact me if you’re late or lost.
